Reflection Phenomena

In think this subtopic is a bit easy coz u’ve learned it in form 4 (light)

The same concept applies, but this time we include different other waves such as reflection of water wave, sound wave & electromagnetic wave.

I list down some important things u need to know..

i. You must be able to describe reflection phenomena in terms of :

· angle of incidence (i) & angle of reflection (r)

angle i = angle r

ii. What happen to reflected waves frequency, speed, wavelength & direction?

- only the direction is changing..

- frequency + wavelength + speed remain the same

Q & A:
1. Which of the following reflection quantities of wave changes after reflection?
a.Frequency b.Wavelength c.Speed d.Direction of propagation

If u answer (a) & (C)..it is wrong coz after reflection the freq. & speed is still the same.
If u answer (b)..its wrong again, wavelenth would be the same for both incident & reflected wave

The answer is D, coz theres a change in direction traveled by the waves.
Though the speed constant, the wave velocity are changing coz, its a vector qty..i.e has
mgnitude & direction.

2. Which of these are the application of reflection of waves
I.
Radar II. Ultrasonic Imaging III. Sonar

The answer is all of them.
